Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture a cheap amorphous alloy of high mass productivity by spouting a molten alloy heat melted in an inert gas atmosphere from a hermetically sealed nozzle upon a cooling roller rotating at a high speed with a pressurizing gas to rapidly cool the spouted alloy. CONSTITUTION:Alloy starting materials are melted in crucible 11 by high frequency induction heating 12 or other method while introducing 13 an inert gas. This molten alloy is poured into spouting nozzle 15 by inclining crucible 11 in the arrow A direction with rotary mechanism 14, and nozzle 15 is hermetically sealed with nozzle cover 16. Simultaneously with the sealing a pressurizing gas is introduced from gas inlet 17 to pressurize the molten alloy, whereby the alloy is spouted upon cooling roller 30 rotating at a high speed from nozzle tip 20 and made amorphous by extremely rapid cooling. In the figures, 18 is a nozzle fixing arm, and 19 is a nozzle- roller positioning mechanism capable of moving vertically and back and forth.
