Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce size of a corona discharger without lowering a copying effect, by rectifying the output of a high-frequency power supply with a rectifier not using a capacitor, and imparting the rectifier smoothing action with the electrostatic capacity of the discharger.
CONSTITUTION: The main parts of a corona discharger consists of high frequency power supply 1, rectifier 2, and corona discharging member 3, power supply 1 consists of inverter 4 and DC power supply 5, and its oscillation frequency is properly set in the range of 15W50kHz. Rectifier 2 is not connected to a smoothing capacitor, but to the output terminal of power supply 1, that is, the secondary coil of output transformer 6. An electrostatic capacity of discharging member 3 is properly selected in the range of 15W100pF, and member 3 is driven with a DC containing a ripple ≤60%, thus permitting a number of parts to be reduced, and a practicable corona discharger of small size, light weight, and low cost to be obtained.
