Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve thermal properties of an ABS resin and to increase its thermal stability, by a method wherein an organotin compd. is incorporated with an ABS resin contg. 1,2-bis(2,3,4,5,6-pentabromophenoxy)ethane.
CONSTITUTION: An organotin compd. (except organotin mercaptide compd.) derived from a compd. of formula I (wherein R1 is 1W8C hydrocarbon group) or formula II (wherein R2, R3 are 1W8C hydrocarbon group) is incorporated with an ABS resin contg. 1,2-bis(2,3,4,5,6-pentabromophenoxy)ethane to improve the thermal stability of the flame-retarding ABS resin. Examples of the organotin copd, derived from the compd. of the formula I or II are dibutyltin dilaurate and dioctyltin distearate. It is suitable to add 0.5W20pts. of these compd. to the ABS resin.
