Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture galvanized steel products with superior corrosion resistance by dipping steel products in a galvanizing bath having regulated Mg, Mn and Al contents and a regulated Al/(Mg+Mn) ratio. CONSTITUTION:A galvanizing bath is prepared contg., by wt., 0.15-1.5% Mg, 0.05-0.5%, especially 0.1-0.3% Mn and <=2.0% Al and having an Al/(Mg+ Mn) ratio of >2.0. By adding Al, a stable Al2O3 thin film is formed on the bath surface and a galvanized surface to prevent the progress of oxidation. Steel products are dipped in the bath to obtain galvanized steel products with superior corrosion resistance. By using this galvanizing bath, the corroding speed of a galvanized film can be decreased to 1/5-1/10 of that of zinc alone withoug deteriorating the general performance of galvanized steel products and the work efficiency.
