Abstract
PURPOSE: A remedy for athlete's foot comprising glycerol ester of a 2W14C carboxylic acid as an active constituent.
CONSTITUTION: A remedy for athlete's foot comprising glycerol ester of a 2W14C carboxylic acid as an active constituent. Acetic, propionic, butyric, valeric or caproic acid may be cited as the 2W14C carboxylic acid, and is used alone or in a mixture of two or more types thereof. The ester is synthesized by esterifying a carboxylic acid with glycerol by the conventional method, and purifying the ester through removal of the unreacted carboxylic acid, decolorization, deodorization, etc. Alternatively, a natural fat or oil containing the glycerol ester may be purified and used. The glycerol ester is a liquid or semisolid at ordinary temperature, has the powerful permeation to the skin and a strong fungicidal action of trichophyton and other molds.
