Abstract

PURPOSE: An ion-exchange membrane which is excellent in heat resistance and chemical resistance and useful in the electrolysis of salt, prepared by mixing, with heating, potassium titanate fiber with a thermoplastic resin and forming the result- ing mixture into a membraneous molded product.
CONSTITUTION: Ten to eighty wt% (10W80wt%) of potassium titanate fiber and 90W20wt% of a thermoplastic resin are mixed through an extruder or between hot rolls, and then formed into a membraneous molded product by using heated rolls, T die extruder or the like. As the thermoplastic resin which can be used, there can be mentioned polyolefin, vinyl polymers and fluorine-containing polymers.
