Abstract
PURPOSE: To use kneaded sand at ordinary temperature without preheating and enable its rapid hardening by blowing and packing the kneaded sand using glue as its main binder into the dies of the specific temperature and drying and hardening the same by the heat of the dies.
CONSTITUTION: Dies 32, 33 are beforehand heated to 100°C or more by the burner tips provided to a pair of die plates 5, 11. On the other hand, the sand having been so kneaded as to become, for example, sand 100pts., glue 2.5pts. and water 3.8pts. by continuous kneader 19 is supplied to a blow head 16 by way of a hopper 18. Next, the blow head 16 detachable from the blow port of the dies is moved over the faying surfaces of the dies 32, 33 by a cylinder rod and is pressure-contacted with the dies 32, 33 by a pressure-contact cylinder 27. The kneaded sand in the blow head 16 is then packed into the dies 32, 33 by the compressed air from a receiver tank 26. At this time, the kneaded sand having been packed is heated by the heat of the dies 32, 33 and the kneaded sand near the die surfaces instantaneously dries and hardens and subsequently dries and hardens toward the central part.
