Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce a higher harmonic component contained in an output current by on/off control of semiconductors so that an instantaneous value of a current to be fed to each phase of a load coincides the instantaneous reference value of each phase current by a voltage clipping circuit. CONSTITUTION:The power converter is composed of an inverter 14 comprising semiconductor switches connected to a DC current source made up of a DC power source 11 and a DC reactor 13 and a voltage clipping circuit in which the output of the inverter 14 is connected to a DC power source 16 with a low impedance through a rectifier 15. Semiconductor switches are on/off controlled so that the instantaneous value of the current to be fed to each phase of a lead such as induction motor coincides an instantaneous reference value 20 of each phase current. For example, following a current reference signal (21) generated through all-wave rectification of the 3 phase current reference value 20, a DC current id is controlled while thyristors Th1-Th6 are on/off controlled by fired pulse signals GP1-GP6 obtained by way of comparators 27U-37W an AND circuit 30 or the like.
