Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable measurement without personal error by a method wherein the pulselike parallel beam is projected into a lens and while the beam receiving face is moved near the focus, the position of the beam receiving face and the shade of light are stored in a memory and then these two signals are analyzed.
CONSTITUTION: Light from light source 1 which transmits through chart 3a having a slit and revolving or moving in a proper speed to be made a pulse type and is developed into a parallel beam is projected into lens L to be measured. And the transmitting light through lens L is projected into beam receiving face 7 moving on the optical axis near the focus, and the position of beam receiving face 7 is read electronically to be stored in memory 15 and together with this, the shade of the transmitting light in beam receiving face 7 is converted into electronical signal via light-electricity conversion element 12 to be stored in memory 15. Thereafter, the both signals stored in memory 15 are detected through focal position retrieval circuit 17 to be analyzed, thus, the focal distance is obtained to be displayed in display circuit 18.
