Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled resin composition for a paint, excellent in corrosion resistance, adhesion to a metal, flexibility, impact resistance, etc., which contains a specified proportion of a urethane group-containing polyhydroxy ether resin and a blocked isocyanate.
CONSTITUTION: (a) A polyhydroxy ether resin obtained from an epoxy resin and a diphenylolalkane (e.g., bisphenol A) of the formula (wherein R is a 1W5C divalent aliphatic group), is reacted with a polyisocyanate in a proportion of excess hydroxy groups, to prepare a urethane-containing polyhydroxy ether resin. Then the above resin composition is obtained by mixing said resin with 0.1W1.2 equivalent, per equivalent of the hydroxy group in the resin, of a blocked isocyanate, and, if necessary, with a pigment, a dye, etc.
