Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of operation by arranging two image readers so that the position of main scanning line on original face does not mach the position of the subscanning at both faces in the reading direction of the original.
CONSTITUTION: In original reader A, original 2 set on paper feed tray 1 is pulled into the reader by paper feed rollers 3 and 3' and then fed to the readout table consisting of light shield plates 4 and 4'. Shield plates 4 and 4' are provided with readout slits shifting in position from each other in the subscanning direction so that light beams from light sources 5 and 5' will not exert influence on the opposite side readout parts mutually by transmitting the original. Through solid image pickup elements 6 and 6' of CCD, etc., and image-forming lenses 7 and 7', picture information on the original is projected on the image pickup surface. Consequently, pieces of picture information on both the sides of the original can simultaneously be read by scanning the original in one direction.
