Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure the performance equivalent to that in a low temperature even at a high temperature for the detector mentioned in the above title, by applying the AC bias voltage through the AC bias circuit and then extracting and eliminating the thermal noise in the radiation detector via the AC bias and in the form of the AC current.
CONSTITUTION: One end of the AC bias circuit 10 is connected to the core 6 of the MI cable 5 functioning as the output terminal of the self-output type radiation detector I. At the same time, the other end of the circuit 10 is earthed via the AC bias capacitor 11 which functions as an AC component eliminating circuit. As the AC bias voltage is applied to the detector I, the electron activated by the AC bias voltage plus the contact potential difference caused by the heat are turned into the AC current to be led to the emitter 2 and the collector 3 alternately. The AC component led, however, is eliminated by the capacitor 11 along with the AC bias component. As a result, the quantity of radiation can be known accurately via the ammeter 9 and even at a comparatively high temperature.
