Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the light resistance and the weathering resistance of a coating film and to eliminate skin irritating property, by a method wherein a vinyl copolymer having a specified acid value, MW and softening point and a specified modified product of p-hydroxybenzoic acid glycidyl ester ether are used as main components.
CONSTITUTION: A powdered paint is prepd. by using, as main components, (A) a vinyl copolymer having an acid value of 20W300, a softening point (ring and ball method) of 80W150°C and a number-average MW or 2,000W20,000 and (B) a compd. having a softening point of 50W150°C and an epoxy equivalent of 300W 3,000, obtd. by modifying p-hydroxybenzoic acid glycidyl ester ether with a compd. having at least two carboxy group. By using the copolymer A and the compd. B, there is obtd. the desired powdered paint which has excellent bonding properties, corrosion resistance, smoothness, etc., does not have skin irritating property, and does not cause yellowing and reduction in gloss by exposure for a short time.
