Abstract
PURPOSE: The solution polymerization is conducted in the presence of a catalyst that is prepared by combining an organomagnesium compound soluble in a solvent, a halide and a titanium compound with an organometal compound and so causes little activity reduction at high temperatures, thus producing the titled polymer with prescribed molecular weight distribution.
CONSTITUTION: The polymerization of α-olefin such as propylene is effected in the presence of a catalyst that is prepared by combining (A) the product resulting from the reaction between (i) an organomagnesium compound soluble in a hydrocarbon solvent of the formula [M is metal atom in IWIII group of the periodic table; α, p, q, r, s are number above 0 where p+q+r+s=mα+2, 0≤(r+s)/(α+1)≤1.0; m is valency of M; t is number above 0; R1, R2 are 1W20C carbyl; X1, X2 are H, negative group; D is organic compound of electron donor], (ii) hydrochloride, an organic halide or a chloride of B, Al, Si, Ge, etc., and (iii) a titanium compound and/or vanadium compound, with (B) an organometal compound.
