Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce friction between a head and magnetic sheet by lowering a head by putting a head lowering method linked to the head into operation at a random point in time.
CONSTITUTION: Armature 35 of plunger 34 is connected to head 9 via link 36 and when electric current is fed to plunger 34, armature 35 is pulled by plunger 34 and link 36 turns around support axle 37 to depress and separate head 9 from a magnetic sheet surface. When the access button of the 2nd block is depressed while head 9 is in process of reproducing the 1st block, the microcomputer sends a signal to the power motor to stop the turntable. Next, the computer sends a signal to feed electric current to plunger 34 and after head 9 is lowered, the access motor starts turning to move the head in the radius direction of the turntable through the rotation of the access motor. Then, the computer stops feeding the current to solenoid 34 according to the display of the display device and then elevates the head again. Thus, head 9 never comes into slide contact with the magnetic sheet in the radius direction of the turntable.
