Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a tape from getting entangled or from winding itself around a capstan axle by discharging static electricity, generated in a tape run, to the chassis side of a device by bringing an elastic member into contact with a tape wind layer part.
CONSTITUTION: The moment cassette positioning pins 15 and 16 are inserted into holes 2 and 3 of the cassette with the cassette loaded in the magnetic recording and reproducing device, projecting piece 13b of leaf spring 13 is brought into elastic contact with height control base 17 at the rear of the cassette and leaf spring 18 is activated to hold the cassette at the play position. Then, static electricity generated during a tape run is discharged from spring 13 in contact with tape 9 to chassis 14 via control base 17, so that there will be no difference in potential between the magnetic surface of tape 9 and chassis 12. Therefore, no static electricity remains inside the cassette and problem such as the winding and entanglement of the tape and noise generation due to the static electricity can be prevented.
