Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a water absorbing agent with good stability against a salt, by using, as a water absorbing agent, a resin obtained by reacting a polysaccharide contg. uronic acid, with a crosslinking agent and, if necessary, a water soluble ethylenic unsaturated monomer.
CONSTITUTION: As a water absorbing agent, is used a resin obtained by adding a crosslinking agent such as a polyepoxy compound or the like and, if necessary, a water soluble ethylenic unsaturated monomer to a polysaccharide such as xanthane gum or the like containing uronic acid as a structural unit of the saccharide and crosslinking by heating. This resin has excellent absorbing and holding capacity against pure water, as well as even against various aqueous salt solution, an acidic or an alkaline aqueous solution.
