Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a cosmetic having UV-absorption capability, by adding one or more esters of a polyhydric alcohol and p-dimethylaminobenzoic acid and a fatty acid. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic composition containing an oily substrate having UV- absorbing capability and composed of an ester of (A) a polyhydric alcohol (e.g. ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, etc.) and (B) p-dimethylaminobenzoic acid (PABA) and a fatty acid (e.g. isooctylic acid, octanoic acid, oleic acid, 12-hydroxystearic acid etc.). The number of ester groups bonded with PABA is pref. less than half of the total ester groups. The polyhydric alcohol or the fatty acid used as the raw materials may be a used as a single material or as a mixture.
