Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to drive a pump without enlarging the gap between an impeller and a liner by supplying water to the liner and the opposing surface even when the impeller does not sink below water level.
CONSTITUTION: An impeller 4 at the upper part of a water level 10 is mounted on a pump shaft 3, and the outer periphery of the impeller 4 is covered with a liner 5. This liner 5 is fitted to the inner side of a bellmouth 6 and fitted to the lower part of the casing 1 together with the bellmouth 6. Further, a large number of holes 7 are formed around the full periphery of the liner 5, and water can be supplied through a pipe 9 to a space 8 formed by the liner 5 and the bellmouth 6. At the time of driving the pump, when water is supplied through the pipe 9, the water enters the space formed by the liner 5 and the bellmouth 6 and flows out of the hole 7 of the liner 5.
