Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce the subject thermoplastic resin pellet which has an improved mechanical strength, by a method wherein line strands, each of which converges a large number of fine single fibers, are arranged at the inside of the pellet approximately in parallel along an axial direction over the full length thereof, and fillers are dispersed evenly with the inside thereof. CONSTITUTION:Several tens-thousads of single fibers, such as glass fibers, carbon fibers, etc., each of which measures 2-20mu in diameter, are converged into a line strand 1. Said line strands 1 are fed into a mold 4, and are molded in the mold 4 together with a mixture of thermoplastic resins from an extruder 2 and fillers, such as mica, graphite, etc. Resin composition so molded is drawn in a line by a drawing device 6, being then cut to the lengthes of about 1-10mm. each by means of a cutter 7. This enables the production of a reinforced thermoplastic resin pellet 10 with an outer diameter of 2-8mm. which has line strands 8, arranged at the inside thereof approximately in parallel along the axial direction over the full length, and which has fillers 9 dispersed evenly within the inside thereof.
