Abstract

PURPOSE:To mold the subject roll without producing cracks, exfoliations and the like, by a method wherein a soft rubber layer formed outside a rolled iron core is placed in a mold having a pouring port, and is cured by pouring liquid thermoplastic resins which can perform a three dimensional coupling. CONSTITUTION:A rubber layer having a hardness covering Shore hardness A40 deg.- D75 deg. is formed outside a rolled iron core, and is than placed in a mold having a pouring port. Liquid thermosetting resins, which can perform a three dimensional coupling, are poured through the pouring port. The resins are cured to form a hard resin layer with at least Shore hardness D80 deg. outside the rubber layer, and the resin layer is removed from a mold. During the process, the rubber layer serves as a cushion which results in easily absorbing the deformation produced due to a cure- reaction. This enables the production of a large-sized roll having an excellent quality which prevents the production of cracks, exfoliations and the like.
