Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a molded article having highly lubricous surface and excellent dimensional accuracy and mechanical strength, by removing the surface layer from a molded article composed of a hardenable liquid composition consisting of a rubber or a resin mixed with a lubricant, thereby exposing the lubricant and making a lubricous surface.

CONSTITUTION: For example, a roller core shaft 1 is clamped and fixed with the upper and the lower molds 4 and 3. A hardenable liquid raw material composed of a rubber (e.g. chloroprene rubber) or a resin (e.g. casting epoxy resin) mixed with a powdery lubricant (e.g. fluorinated carbon) is poured into the mold cavity through the holes 5, 5' of the upper mold 4, cured, solidified, and demolded to obtain a hardened product having the thick-walled part 7' of the solidified rubber or resin. The hardened product which is larger than the objective roll in size, is subjected to the fabrication such as cutting, grinding, etc. to obtain the product having desired size and shape and free of the burrs 2a, 5a, 5'a, 6a corresponding to the parting line of the split mold. The lubricant particles covered with the rubber or the resin are exposed by the above fabrication to give the objective molded article.
