Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase both the accuracy of measurements and the strength of welding, by forming the lump part at the tip of the platinum bar.
CONSTITUTION: The tip of the platinum bar 2 is fused to form the lump part 3 which is larger than the diameter of the bar 2. Such bar 2 is insertd into the hollow upper electrode 4 which contains the hemispherical cavity 4a at the edge of the lower opening, and then the part 3 is made to touch the center of the platinum disk 1 set on the lower electrode 5 having the flat surface. Then the pressure conduction is applied via the electrode 4 to perform the welding, and as a result the bar 2 can be vertically fixed at the center of the disk 1. In such way, the bar 2 can be positioned and then welded at the center of the disk 1 in a simple way, thus obtaining a platinum electrode having a high accuracy of measurement. At the same time, the welded area to the disk 1 of the bar 2 can be formed larger than the part 3, thus increasing the welding strength.
