Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify a lubrication mechanism, by dividing the interior of a crankcase into a transmission chamber and a bevel gear chamber and providing in the bevel gear chamber a reservoir for oil in which bevel gears are immersed and by introducing into the transmission chamber the lubricating oil which has overflowed the reservoir.
CONSTITUTION: Lubricating oil flows into a bevel gear chamber 7 from an oil inflow groove 50 provided on the fitted surfaces of crankcase portions 1, 2. Not less than a prescribed quantity of lubricating oil is always stored in an oil reservoir in the lower part of the bevel gear chamber 7. The lower crankcase portion 1, which defines the bevel gear chamber 7, is provided with an oil outflow hole 52 opened in a position near a partition wall 9 under an output shaft 22. Lubricating oil having overflowed the oil reservoir of the bevel gear chamber 7 flows down to the main oil reservoir of a transmission chamber 4 through the oil outflow hole 52.
