Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of a strain around an image at the time of fixing a toner by using a resin emulsion with ≥10°C minimum film forming temp. (MFT) as a material for water proof middle layer between a base paper and a photoconductive layer.
CONSTITUTION: A coating fluid consisting of kaolin clay, polyvinyl alcohol and a polyacrylate emulsion with about 25°C MFT is applied to the surface of ordinary paper and dried to form a middle layer. The fluid is then blended with an electrically conductive agent such as a quat. ammonium-contg. polymer, applied to the back side of the paper, and dried to form a back coat layer. A photoconductive layer consisting of ZnO, acrylic resin and a sensitizing dye is laid on the middle layer, and a lithographic plate is manufactured by dry development. The middle layer may contain ≤ about 1.5 times as much resin emulsion with ≤10°C MFT as resin emulsion with ≥10°C MFT.
