Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately detect the read starting position and the initial position of a copying machine optical reader utilizing a solid receiving light element by a means of detecting a rod-shaped read starting indication member and a plate-shaped initial position indicating member as well as the existence of said members.
CONSTITUTION: An indication member 13 indicating the position of a moving optical reading part 1 is fixed up to a guide member 9 and is provided on its top with a 1W3mm wide narrow rod-shaped projecting part 16 and on its bottom with a 20W50mm wide plate-shaped projecting part 17. On the other hand the cources of the mechine frame which the projecting parts 16 and 17 pass through are respectively provided with the sensing members 19, 20. For the sensing members 19, 20 photointerrupters and the like are used and when light is interrupted through the passing projecting parts 16, 17, the receiving light part 22 senses the passing of the projecting parts. The sensing member 19 accurately detects the read starting position giving the pulselike signals when the rod-shaped projecting part 16 passes through and the sensing member 20 detects with sufficient time whether or not the optical reader 1 is in the initial position.
