Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase mechanical strength through a simple constitution and thus to obtain a stable and high precision current meter by a construction wherein ultrasonic wave transmitter and receiver are buried in the head of an enclosure so as not to project therefrom, and an ultrasonic wave reflecting plate is provided on a supporting frame projecting from the enclosure. CONSTITUTION:A pair of ultrasonic wave receiver oscillating elements 11a and 11b arranged symmetrically and a pair of ultrasonic wave receiver oscillating elements 11c and 11d crossed at right angles therewith are buried in the head of a metallic enclosure 10 covered peripherally with rubber so as not to project therefrom. Then, an ultrasonic wave reflecting plate 13 is fixed on a supporting frame 12 with its both ends fixed on the enclosure 10 at a spot extending from a point of intersection of lines connecting elements 11a and 11b and 11c and 11d. According to this constitution, the elements 11a-11d are free from being influenced by the depth of water or the speed of current to deformation or displacement, a mechanical strength is essentially increased, no electric current will arise, and thus the speed of current can be measured stably and at high precision according to ultrasonic reflection method through a simple constitution.
