Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a filter material usable in food manufacturing by a method wherein a sheet made from fibers having different melting points is inserted between two rolls, the first having protrusions and depressions in checks and heated to a temperature slightly higher than the m.p. of the lower m.p. fiber, the second being a plain heat-discharging roll.
CONSTITUTION: A sheet type filter material made by mixing fibers having different m.p.s. is dried by the drier 2, heated in the heating chamber 3 to a temperature slightly higher than the m.p. of the low m.p. fiber. In the chamber 3, hot air is projected from the surface of the heating roll 7 to heat the filter material 1 while the air used is recoverd by the fan 9, reheated by the heater 10, and supplied to the roll 7. Then, the filter material 1 is guided between the heat-type roll 4 and the plain cooling roll 6, so that the low m.p. fiber is melted by the protruded parts 12 of the roll 4 and bonded to the high m.p. fiber, and part of the low m.p. fiber is also melted by the depressed part 13 and bonded each other. If required, the calender roll 6 is used to compress the filter material to reduce the pore size.
