Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain titled spherical particles, by redispersing, into a water-soluble polymer-containing aqueous solution, a water-in-oil emulsion prepared by dispersing a water-soluble polymer-containing aqueous solution into a vinyl monomer-containing unsaturated polyester, and then curing the resulting dispersion by crosslinking.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution containing a water-soluble polymer such as gelatin is added, with stirring, in small portions and emulsified into a vinyl monomer-containing unsaturated polyester, thereby to form a water-in-oil primary emulsion. This primary emulsion is added, with stirring, in small portions and redispersed into a water-soluble polymer-containing aqueous solution thereby to form a secondary emulsion. Then, the secondary emulsion is crosslinked and cured slowly at a room temperature to 80°C to form a slurry of unsaturated polyester spherical particles. The slurry is separated, for example, by filtration to obtain titled spherical particles.
EFFECT: High-strength, water-containing polyester spherical particles having a porous surface, which are useful as a carrier for enzyme immobilization can be obtained.
