Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the combustion, deterioration and discoloration of a foam during production and thereby to stably produce a high-quality, soft polyurethane foam, by adding, as an additive, α-methyl-benzyl group-substitued thiodiphenylamine.
CONSTITUTION: In the production of a polyurethane foam from a polyol, a polyisocyanate, a blowing agent, a foam stabilizer and other additives; α-methylbenzyl group-substituted thiodiphenylamine is added as one of said additives. In addition to this additive, additives such as an antioxidant and an ultraviolet ray-absorbing agent may also be added. These additives tend toward showing a synergistic action. The above additive-containing polyurethane foam-forming material is foamed into soft foams. The foaming conditions, foaming method, etc., can be those which are known in the art.
