Abstract

PURPOSE: A composite cutting body which consists in sintering cubic system and/or wurtzite type contg. a binder comprising specific three groups on a superhard alloy plate under extra high pressure and high temp. and which is suited for intermittent, high speed milling for high hardness materials to be cut.
CONSTITUTION: This composite cutting body 1 is formed of a polycrystalline sintered body 2 of boron nitride of cubic system and a super hardalloy plate 3 of WC- Co or the like. This sintered body 2 consists in sintering and securing 70W95vol% boron nitride and the remaining binder on the base plate 3 undr extra high pressure and high temp. Said binder is formed of the three group components selected of respectively one or more kinds of the 1st group comprising Nb and Mo, the 2nd group comprising Ni, Co and Fe and the 3rd group comprising Al and Si. Or the components in which ≤50% these three group base components are substituted with one or more kinds of carbide (e.g.; WC), nitrode (e.g.; TiN) and boride (e.g.; TiB2) of periodic table IV, V, VI group metals or Al2O3.
