Abstract

PURPOSE:To form corrosion preventive film by chemical conversion and to make the film utilizable as a substrate film for painting, by electroplating a steel sheet with zinc using zinc phosphate soln. contg. inorg. salt, then by immersing the galvanized steel sheet in the plating soln. CONSTITUTION:Zinc phosphate is dissolved in an aqueous soln. of sodium chloride, potassium chloride, ammonium chloride etc. so as to prepare zinc phosphate bath contg. complex forming salt. Steel sheet is electroplated with zinc using said bath, then current is stopped. Subsequently, zinc phosphate film is formed on the surface of the galvanized steel sheet by immersion or spraying using said bath by the chemical reaction of free phosphoric acid contained in the bath. Hereby the galvanized surface is prevented from corrosion, and the film is utilized as substrate film for painting. Glossing agent, smoothing agent may be added to the plating bath at need.
