Abstract
PURPOSE: To form a double layer of Zn-Mn which is excellent in adhesive property between the two layers and in corrosion resistance, by galvanizing the surface of a steel sheet, then by electrodepositing Mn by use of a plating bath having specific concn. of total polyvalent Mn by addition with sulfurous acid.
CONSTITUTION: On the surface of steel sheet is electrodeposited 1W30g/m2 Zn using a bath contg. no cyanic compounds, then 5W30g/m2 Mn is electroplated on said surface using a plating bath composed of ≤0.5g/l sulfurous acid ions, 25W250g/l total sulfuric acid group concn., and ≥10g/l total polyvalent Mn, and contg. ammonium sulfate as a supporting electrolyte. This double-layer plating allows to manufacture a plated steel sheet having metallic luster, causing no deterioration in processability, weldability, and having excellent corrosion resistance.
