Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the length of the entire structure of a pneumatic cylinder and to obtain a high trust, by fitting a pneumatic piston having a pneumatic piston rod in the body of a pneumatic cylinder in freely slidable manner, and forming an inner chamber in the piston rod.
CONSTITUTION: When a load is acted to the outer end of a pneumatic piston rod 3, hydraulic oil in a pressure chamber 42 flows into an accumulator chamber 41 through an orifice 10 formed in a fixed partition wall 5 along with retracting movement of rod 3, so that the volume of a fixed rod 6 immersed in oil is increased. Resultantly, a free piston is slided toward head cover 7, so that the load can be absorbed. On the other hand, for imparting a thrust to the absorbed load, compressed air is supplied into a pneumatic cylinder 1 through an air inlet and outlet port 14 for causing sliding movement of pneumatic piston 2 toward the rod, where by a high thrust can be obtained since the pneumatic pressure receiving area of piston 2 is larger than the hydraulic pressure receiving area of a partition wall 5.
