Abstract
PURPOSE:A toothpaste composition useful for preventing dental caries, capable of providing ebur entis with an acid-resistant effect for a long time, obtained by blending a soluble and/or slightly soluble stannous compound and a phytic acid compound with an insoluble alkali metal salt of metaphosphoric acid and/or silicic anhydride. CONSTITUTION:A soluble stannous compound (e.g., stannous fluoride, etc.) and/or slightly soluble stannous compound (e.g., stannous pyrophosphate, etc.) and a phytic acid compound (e.g., sodium phytate, etc.) are blended with an insoluble alkali metal salt of metaphosphoric acid and/or silicic anhydride (e.g., SiO2, Al2O3, etc.) as an abrasive. A nonionic water-soluble high polymer compound as a binding agent is preferably added to the blend. The insoluble stannous compound is preferably added in an undissociated state wherein it is partly precipitated. The stannous compound is preferably blended with not more than 1,000ppm based on total fluorine concentration water-soluble flurorine compound. A stannous ion can prevent the deactivation of a fluorine ion for a long time.
