Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an aqueous nickel fulfate soln. of high purity by adding powdered calcium carbonate to an aqueous nickel sulfate soln. while aerating the soln. and adding calcium hydroxide to prevent nickel from being contained in a precipitate.
CONSTITUTION: Powdered calcium carbonate is slowly added to an aqueous nickel sulfate soln. contg. iron, copper, zinc, etc. while aerating the soln. to adjust the soln. to 4.5W5.0pH. A small amount of a milky aqueous calcium hydroxide soln. is then added to adjust the soln. to 5.5W6.0pH, and a precipitate formed is filtered out. By this method little nickel component such as Ni(OH)2 is contained in the resulting precipitate, so the precipitate has improved settleability and filterability. Accordingly, the yield of nickel is enhanced without diluting the aqueous nickel sulfate soln.
