Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain exterior decorative parts for a pocket watch with improved corrosion resistance by plating a Pd-Ni alloy having a specified composition ratio with a noble metal or its alloy.
CONSTITUTION: Exterior decorative parts for a pocket watch such as a mesh band for a write watch are manufactured using an alloy consisting of 20W80% Pd and the balance Ni and inevitable impurities. The parts are activated and plated with a noble metal such as Au, Ag, Rh, Pd, Pt, Ru, Ir or Os or its alloy in a predetermined thickness. This alloy material itself has corrosion resistance and mechanical properties fit for practical use and shows superior suitability to plating, so exterior decorative parts maintaining superior corrosion resistance after plating can be obtd.
