Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:The titled compound and its salt of formula I (R is phenylalkyl, lower alkanoyl, lower alkoxycarbonyl, lower alkanesulfonyl, or phenylsulfonyl which may have lower alkyl as a substitution group).
EXAMPLE: 4,4'-Methylene-bis-(1-benzyl-3-phenylamino-5-oxo-3,4-dehydro-piperidine).
USE: An analgesic, sedative, tranquillizer, antipyretic, antispasmodic, remedy for diabetes, and antiphlogistic.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I is prepared, for example, by reacting a piperidine-3,5-dione derivative of formula II with aniline in a proper solvent at 50W100°C, and then heating and reacting the resulting compound of formula III with formaldehyde in a proper solvent.
