Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I or its salt (R is phenylalkyl, lower alkoxycarbonyl, etc.).
EXAMPLE: 2-Benzyl-1,2,3,5,6,11-hexahydro-5-phenyl-4H-pyrido[ 3, 4-b ][ 1, 5 ] benzodiazepin-4-one.
USE: Analgesic, sedative, tranquilizer, antispasmodic, etc.
PROCESS: The compound of formula 1 is prepared by reacting a piperidine-3,5-dione derivative of formula 2 with o-phenylenediamine of formula 3 at 50W100°C, and then reacting the resulting compund of formula 4 with benzaldehyde of formula 5 in a solvent such as methanol in the presence of a condensing agent such as p-toluenesulfonic acid.
