Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate and draw fresh water from sea water continuously with a simple apparatus by cleaning the inside surfaces of reverse osmotic membranes with a rotary cleaner at the time of desalting sea water by using the cylindrical reverse osmotic membranes as filter media.
CONSTITUTION: Reverse osmotic membranes 2 are disposed to a round cylindrical shape on the inner side of an outside cylinder 1 by means of a frame body 3. The space formed by the outside cylinder 1, the reverse osmotic membranes and the frame body 3 is tightly closed at the bottom to form a fresh water recovering chamber 4. In addition, a funnel-shaped solids collecting tank 5 is secured to the bottom end of the frame body 3, and while a cleaner is allowed to contact with the inside surfaces of the cylindrical reverse osmotic membranes, it is rotated at high speeds by an arm 9 and a rotating shaft 8.
