Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurate determine the chargeability and coating performance in the electrostatic coating state of a small amount of powder coatings by so constituting the device that a powder feeder operates in a fixed time after a start button is pressed and voltage is applied to the coating gun.
CONSTITUTION: On pressing of measurement start button 10 in a charge powder generating system A, a control system operates to supply electric power from a power source 12 to a solenoid valve 13 and a voltage source 18, then the valve 13 opens and the dehumidified compressed air is blown to the probe system B from a coating gun 17. At the same instant, a high voltage source operates and corona ions are generated from the corona pin 19 at the end of the powder coating gun. These corona ions flow to the probe system B. Upon lapse of a fixed time after the push of the button 10, electric power is supplied from a control system 11 to a powder feeder 20, and coating powder falls from the feeder 20 toward an ejector 21. This powder ejects from the gun 17, is charged by the corona ions near the pin 19 and moves toward the probe system B.
