Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:The titled compound of formula I (R is alkyl).
EXAMPLE: 5-( 4-Indoloxymethyl )-3-isopropyloxazolidin-2-one.
USE: Synthetic intermediates of medicines: for example, a product resulting from the hydrolysis of the titled compound has β-adrenergic ganglion blocking activity and is used as a remedy or propylactis for arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation and coronary diseases.
PREPARATION: The reaction between a compound of formula II and another compound of formula III (R1 is H, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl; X is halogen) is conducted in the presence of a basic substance such as potassium hydroxide, sodium methylate or pyridine in a solvent of benzene or ether at 50W200°C and the product is catalytically hydrogenated in the presence of a catalyst such as platinum or palladium or chemically reduced with a reducing agent such as sodium borohydride to give the compound of formula I.
