Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate the dehydration of sludges, by treating dehydrated sludges in an autoclave, skimming sludge films formed on the inside surface of the autoclave, and adiabatically expanding the sludge instantaneously at a discharge step.
CONSTITUTION: A condensed sludge, after dehydrated, is carried through a conduit 6 and a charge valve 7 into an autoclave 1 provided with a peripheral heating jacket 2. The condensed sludge in the autoclave 1 is heated by the heating jacket 2 and agitated by a stirrer 4. The condensed sludge is continuously carried through the autoclave 1. The sludge films formed on the inside surface of the autoclave is continuously scraped by a brush 5 to protect the inside surface from the adhesions of scales. After a predetermined time, the treated sludge is discharged through a discharge pipe 9. A charge valve 7 and a discharge valve 8 are operated in order to maintain a pressre in the autoclave at a proper level and to charge and discharge the sludge. The treated sludge is adiabatically expanded instantaneously at its discharge period, so that shells of the sludge are easily broken. Consequently, a dehydration process can be done with ease.
