Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable copying of single color images and two-color images to be accomplished together with color copying by determining a reference position for a filter member and setting the filter member always in the reference position at the time when copying process starts. CONSTITUTION:A sprocket 106 is turned by a driving system, a light source 102 emits light and a photodetector 103 is able to operate. If at this time the photodetector 103 is receiving light, a filter member 9 is in a reference position and therefore the light source 102 immediately stops emitting light and the other parts of the device do not operate. If the photodetector 103 fails to receive light, a signal is emitted to energize a solenoid 111 which in turn disengages an engaging pawl 109 and a clutch wheel 108, thereby causing the clutch wheel 108, rotary plate 101 and filter member 9 to turn. When the filter member 9 assumes the reference position, the photodetector 103 now receives light.
