Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the temp. in a round type electric furnace by disposing a coals sample holding vessel consisting of a metal-made cylinder which is opened at the top end part and is closed at the bottom end part into the electric furnace in the position roughly aligning to the central axis of said furnace, and controlling the same with the signal of a thermocouple.
CONSTITUTION: A coals sample holding vessel 3 made of stainless steel and a round type electric crucible furnace 1 are so arranged that the central axes of the two align always in roughly the same position. Further, a cylinder 2 made of stainless steel supporting the edge 4 of the upper part of the vessel 3 is provided in the position in proximity to the wall of the furnace 1, and further, heat-insulation bricks 8 are disposed in the upper part thereof, so that a temp. control device 10 is operated by the electric signal of the thermocouple 9 provided in the furnace. By such constitution, the coals sample of a cylindrical shape may be uniformly heated and dried at a constant temp. elevation rate from the surroundings.
