Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible double width cutting of an ingot in a batch system and considerably improve yield by providing an ingot heater and a compression shearing machine besides a gas cutter.
CONSTITUTION: An ingot heater 18 which locally heats the shearing part of an ingot 12 and makes possible stable cutting is provided behind a conventional gas cutting machine 16, and a compression shearing machine 20 is provided behind this device 18. The heater 18 locally heats the intended cutting place of the ingot 12, and heats the same over single or plural rows according to the number of discs of the compression shearing machine 20 for the purpose of further cutting to double width the ingot 12 having been cut to a specified length by the gas cutting machine 16. The compression shearing machine 20 consists of a disc roll 26 having single or plural discs 24 as well as a screw-down device 28 and a driving device 30, and permits cutting the ingot 12 to plural rows of ingots according to its cutting widths.
