CONSTITUTION: When a pulse generating part 2 passes a detector 3 with the rotation of the rotary shaft 1, the output of the detector 3 is inputted in a timing signal generating circuit 42 through a wave-shaping circuit 41. The timing signal generating circuit 42 makes a gate circuit 44 generate a gate pulse equivalent to the interval of the pulse. A counter circuit 45 counts a reference pulse while the output of the gate circuit 44 is at a high level and outputs the same to a numerical value conversion circuit 47. The timing signal generating circuit 42 outputs a numerical value conversion pulse to the numerical value conversion circuit 47 concurrently with the completion of a latch pulse, while, simultaneously, outputting a reset pulse to the counter circuit 45. By this constitution, the counted number of the reference pulse is converted to the rotational number in the numerical value conversion circuit 47. By constituting the device in this way, the precision of detection can be improved.
