Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a sensitivity in reproduction of a signal by a method wherein a thin film of a magnetic substance having a high permeability is arranged on a gap through nonmagnetic layer in such a way as the film is arranged in parallel with a magnetic resistance effect element and their entire surfaces are not overlapped with each other. CONSTITUTION:High magnetic alloy having as its major substance permalloy Fe, Ni, Co etc. is arranged on the base plate 6 of Si etc. to show a desired shape, electric terminals 3 are arranged at both ends of the alloy to form a magnetic resistance effect element 1. Nonmagnetic layer 4 is placed to cover the gap G, and magnetic substances 5, 5' having a high permeability are arranged over the gap G. Magnetic substances 2, 2', 5, 5' having a high permeability are made of parmalloy etc., and the nonmagnetic layer 4 is made of SiO2 etc. When the layer 4 is formed to have a thickness of about several thousands Angstrom , a high rate of variation of the resistance may be provided in a quite low signal magnetic field Hx lower than that of a conventional one, thereby a signal reproducing sensitivity is improved.
