Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the sensitivity of a glucose sensor by using glucose isomerase in combination with glucose oxidase.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous suspension of solubilized collagen prepared from powder of oxhide is mixed with glucose oxidase and glucose isomerase, spread on a glass plate, and air dried to form a film. This film is then toughened by immersing in a 0.4% aqueous soln. of glutaraldehyde at 4°C for about 5hr. The resulting film M1 in which glucose oxidase and glucose isomerase have been fixed simultaneously is cut to a suitable area and attached to "Teflon film " T of the dissolved oxygen sensor in close contact with each other. Since the glucose isomerase converts glucose into fructose, the activity of the glucose oxidase is increased to enhance the sensitivity of the working curve.
