Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce fluctuations of electroacoustic characteristics without using a material changing in specific acoustic impedance, by connecting one flank of a quarter-wavelength elastic body to the opposite surface of a half-wavelength resonant oscillator opposing to an ultrasonic-wave radiation surface and by regarding the other flank of this elastic body as an oscillation fixed end. CONSTITUTION:The Langevin type oscillator of the half-wavelength resonator of an ultrasonic-wave transmitter-receiver is provided with electrostrictive disks 1 and 2 made of electrostrictive materials polarized in the thickness direction; electrodes 5-8 are vapor-deposited on both the surfaces of those disks 1 and 2 and metallic elastic bodies 3 and 4 are adhered to those electrode 5-8. The elastic body 3 and 4 disk 1, and elastic body 4 and disk 2 have sizes and sectional area ratios determined so that quarter-wavelength resonance will be provided at in-use frequencies respectively. In addition, elastic body 3 is arranged opposing to acoustic window 12, and quarter-wavelength elastic body 9 is fixed by being screwed into elastic body 4 while the other end of the body 9 is screwed into transmitter-receiver 11. Then, electroacoustic characteristics are reduced in fluctuations without using any material changing in specific acoustic impedance.
